Erbario: Sweet Boy Hanging Scroll

This lovely fella is from a 15th century Northern Italian manuscript (Erbario: An Herbal) that features anthropomorphized vegetation. It includes various illustration styles making it possible that several generations worked on the full manuscript we see today. The earliest part of the set follows medieval conventions, while the later images seem to be more naturalistic - perhaps drawn from life like we see in the renaissance. This guy is from the earlier portion! We have affectionately dubbed him “Sweet Boy”!

Details:

• approximately 13x8” (measurement accounts for the included scroll hanger)
• screen printed and heat-sealed on muslin fabric
• your package includes an artist card that describes the history of the work of art you received
• If it is wrinkly from the voyage, absolutely feel free to iron him! The hanger is magnetic and you can put it right back on! We have already ironed it thoroughly at high heat so you will not damage it with heat, but we do not recommend using the steam function on your iron.
